Project Proposal
For my final project I am going to write a piece of fanfiction from Claudia's point of view, focusing mostly on the time before she met Louis and then the changes she went through emotionally as well as physically afterwards. I found it fascinating she is a child vampire, unable to grow up and become a woman no matter how long she lives and I want to expand upon what she might have felt. Of course I am going to use Interview with the Vampire and use passages that expand upon Claudia's character.

I love this idea, and I think it'll be really interesting to see how you construct her. We see how she is in the novel, but do we really know her? I don't think we do, just Louis' vision of her.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea. Claudia's struggle and her motivations are clouded in mystery in the novel, and it would be interesting to see what sort of personal conflicts she had to overcome. I would be especially interested in exploring her motivations for killing Lestat and why she chose Madeleine as a companion. I think Claudia represents in part our society's obsession with "purity" and "innocence." A woman loses a great deal of her value when she, well, becomes a woman. Although this is changing, we have very few stories about real women even though stories about grown men are found in abundance. I think Claudia's rebellion is certainly a kind of "pushing back" against these narrative restraints, so it will be interesting to see you explore that.
